Featured Artist Spotlight – Amy Brown

Cayce Garrison — March 1, 2017

Coming next week we have the talented Amy Brown bringing her wonderful and creative Color Your Fantasy designs to Pigment. If you love fairies or dragons you will be in for a real treat.

Amy Brown is a fantasy artist residing in the Pacific Northwest with various house goblins and garden trolls. Her preferred medium is watercolors, but she’ll throw just about anything on a piece of paper if creates cool textures. She’s been creating and selling her work worldwide for more than 20 years.

How did you get into art/illustration/design?

I’ve always drawn and it became my profession almost by accident. I was working in a gallery and my boss asked me to paint something for an extra frame that had been lying around. I did and it sold in 2 days. So I did another and it sold. The career evolved from there.

What’s your favorite thing you’ve ever created?

My kids. But as far my art goes, my favorites change constantly as I develop my technique more each year.

What’s the best advice you ever had about how to be more creative?

Do it every day.

Are there other coloring book artists or illustrators that inspire you?

There are dozens upon dozens. There are too many truly awesome artists out there. I admire so many.

What do you want people to get out of your designs?

I hope they’ll be inspired to create or at the very least that my images make people feel happy.
