Featured Artist Spotlight – Stephanie Maier
Our new Featured Artist coming next week is Stephanie Maier. Her book, Masquerade Masks is coming to Pigment just in time for Mardi Gras.
How did you get into art/illustration/design?
I have been drawing since I could hold onto objects. I might have been 2 years old, maybe younger. Art wasn’t something I got into. Art was something I just kept doing and never questioned it. Putting my artwork out in the open was never a thought until recently.
If art isn’t your full time job, what do you do for a living?
I am a proud housewife.
What themes do you like to pursue?
I’ll draw anything. Plants, flowers, animals, manga, people or items in my house. I can’t say I have a particular favorite. Recently I’ve been blessed with the catchy nickname “mittens” due to my proud inability to draw hands. I’ll draw anything, just not… hands. Not at the moment, at least.
What do you want people to get out of your designs?
Enjoyment, creativity, inspiration. I’ve drawn for maybe two people. It’s difficult to say what I want people to get out of my designs. All I hope is they get as much enjoyment coloring them as I did drawing them.
