Get Started with Pigment – Color Palettes and Shade Control

Cayce Garrison — May 10, 2016

Picking the right color combination is important for any coloring project. Pigment’s color palettes and shade control allow for an almost endless amount of colors to be created. Let’s dive into it.

The current color palette can be found at the bottom of your workspace. You’ll see several buttons, sliders, and arrows around it. The grey button to the left with small colored dots inside is the Color Palette Menu. This is where you find many fun and engaging color palettes we’ve created to get you started.

As you drag your finger up the menu you’ll find these palettes vary in theme. As you get to the bottom of the menu we’ve created palettes that are based on one particular color in several hues. These palettes make it easy to jump right into a design and create a vibrant piece.

The Color Palette Menu also keeps track of your most recently used colors and includes a Sample tool.

Now if you feel the color palettes in the menu are not offering enough colors than the Shade Control is perfect for you. This tool gives you the ability to lighten or darken a selected color.

Combine these features with the Opacity Slider and you’ve now opened up a whole new world of color options to choose from. We hope you enjoyed this quick guide on the Color Palette Tool. Now get to creating your favorite colors.
