So you have an iPad, and you’re wondering if an Apple pencil is worth the additional investment. Or maybe you have an iPad and Apple pencil and you’re wondering what you can use it for. You’re in the right place. The Apple pencil might look simple, but it’s a powerful piece of technology that, in the right hands, can make gorgeous artwork, handwriting, and more.
How can I use an Apple Pencil with my iPad?
Apple pencils feel like, well, like regular pencils. They sit comfortably in your hand, and they move beyond the limitations of a keyboard by letting you create the exact shapes, shading, and movements that are in your head. Today I’m going to talk about two apps that are ideal for using with the Apple pencil.
What apps can I use the Apple Pencil with?
The first Apple pencil-friendly app I want to talk about is Pigment. Pigment is a stunning coloring app that is consistently ranked as the best coloring app due to its extensive library, intuitive tools, and real-to-life color feel. When coloring with Pigment, you can shade, tap-to-fill, erase, and get as detailed as you want. This is when the Apple pencil moves beyond a regular pencil…for example you can change the size, opacity, and brush type with a simple tap on the screen. It’s basically magic.
Use the Pigment App with your Apple Pencil
Pigment is on the App store and you can use it for free, or try a free trial to access all its premium features. It’s an awesome way to relax, practice mindfulness, and flex your creativity.
More Apps that work with the Apple Pencil
OK, the second app that works really well with the Apple pencil is the Zinnia Journal and Planner app.
Their digital bullet journal setup is unreal. Check out their washi Tape, Journal Cards, Frames, Stickers, Trackers and a ton of content that expands every month. With Zinnia you can make really cohesive and fun spreads, and you can really get into it and take a long time adding your own touches…or you can use their templates and premade content.
Zinnia is full of surprises – it has that great digital planning ecosystem, but it’s also a digital studio that is perfect for tons of different types of projects, from storyboarding to landscaping, to comics, and even creating a children’s books. Using an Apple Pencil with Zinnia is a dream. It lets you move, resize, doodle, write, and so much more.
