Interview with Dan Zeller.

Great artists can seem intimidating.

Have you ever looked at a piece of art and wondered:

  • How did they come up with that idea for that art?
  • How did they learn the skills to execute that idea?
  • Were they born with a genius I’ll never reach?

Great art isn’t created in a vacuum. And, as much as we admire raw talent, great artists aren’t magical beings who woke up one day and decided to make art. So, what is a successful artist?

  • How do you develop artistic skills?
  • Where do you find inspiration for great art, and how do you deal with imposter syndrome?

During the next two weeks we will be sharing interviews with two artists who are actively pursuing their creative talents. They’ll be discussing everything from their drive to create, to the evolution of their art and finding their artistic identities.

Pixite: Your Partner in Creativity

At Pixite, our goal is to support and spark natural creativity.

In a world of busy schedules and easy Netflix, we think it’s important to take time to create. We believe that everyone is creative, and that it’s important to practice and express this side of ourselves. It’s a bit like exercising – you know it’s good for you, you feel better after you do it, but sometimes it’s hard to just show up. And, unlike exercise, the benefit of creating is not necessarily a physical result, which makes it even easier to ignore or push aside.

The reality is: creating is essential to your personal wellbeing. To use your imagination, to make something where there was nothing, to immerse yourself in a personally meaningful project: these are distinct, and beautiful, expressions of humanity.

So: carve out some time for creating today. Exercise your brain, express your humanness, and enjoy the process.
